GroPAL Balance

Application Guidelines

GroPal Balance A (GPB-A) is for soil applications only. Its strength lies in its ability to transform microbial life in the soil, flocculate and condition the soil, and help to stimulate the plant to sequester liquid carbon (sugars) into the soil. GPB-C is for foliar applications. For best results, apply a full 40 oz. GPB-A before considering GPB-C.

GPB-A needs 0.1" of rain or irrigation water to get it into the soil to start working. If the soil doesn’t have good moisture, an additional inch of moisture is needed to activate it.

A tank mix of at least 20 gallons per acre is best. This helps to move it down out of the sun’s reach, whether sprayed on heavy foliage or the bare ground. However, a tank mix of 10 gallons per acre or less or 3 gal./acre using a plane is also ok if within a couple of days GPB has some moisture to carry it into the soil.

As soon as your product arrives, please
crack open the lid to allow it to vent,
thereby preventing a build-up of pressure.

GroPal Balance may be applied Spring, Summer or Fall

  • An early or late spring application can help improve that year’s crop. Apply ASAP to get it working.

  • A summer application can raise nutrients in the plant, but the real results won’t show up till late that year or the next year.

  • A fall application will allow GroPal Balance to improve the soil throughout the fall and early spring.

  • A winter application may be more convenient for some farmers. The important thing is that the soil is permeable so that moisture that comes can take it on into the ground.

How much GroPal Balance can safely be applied

You needn’t be concerned about harming your soil by applying too much GroPal Balance. Just make sure it is thinned down enough not to burn the leaves. To avoid this, don’t apply more than half a gallon per 20 gal./acre tank mix, unless after applying it GPB is washed off of leaves.

GroPal Balance Application Rate Guidelines

GroPal Balance A Soil Conditioner

($9.99 to $39.96 per acre when purchased by the bucket)

  • 10 ounces per acre if no chemical applications (NPK, herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, nematicides, etc.) have been made in the past 2 or 3 years.

  • 15 ounces per acre if light chemical applications have been made in the past number of years.

  • If maximum impact is desired, apply up to 40 ounces per acre

  • For soils where chemicals have been or will be applied, apply a 2nd and even 3rd ten ounce application 2 to 3 weeks after the chemical is applied

  • For increased yields on hay fields, a 10 to 20 ounce application may be made immediately following each cutting

GroPal Balance C Foliar Fertilizer

For rotational grazing, hay fields, row crops and higher dollar crops, one or more GPB-C foliar applications may be helpful
($16.65 to $33.30 per acre when purchased by the bucket)

  • One to two quarts per acre

  • This application is only recommended when you have accomplished all that you can with GroPal Balance A (see above), but desire even greater results. Not only can one or more applications of GroPal Balance C increase yields, but GPB-C may also help to increase protein, test weights and relative feed value.

These foliar applications may be helpful to hay farmers who want greater yields without the use of chemical fertilizers, or by those who grow row crops, fruits or vegetables.

  • Apply a foliar application of 1 to 2 quarts per acre with a 10 gal./acre or more tank mix. It is best applied at the following times, depending on the crop:
    1. Two to four weeks post-emergence
    2. During flowering
    3. At the beginning stages of fruiting

Applications methods

GrowPal Balance A is for a soil application only. Of course, it can be broadcast over plants, but it will not be activated until rain or irrigation water carries it down to the soil.

Applying GPB-A through an irrigation system, preferably one that blankets the soil, works quite well. It may also be applied through a drip line system. GroPal Balance will not clog up drip lines.

Both GPB-A and C may be broadcast using spray equipment. They may also be applied by airplane, using a 3 to 4 gallon per acre tank mix. When putting GPB-A on with a plane, apply before a rain or water it in using irrigation.

Chemical applications will hinder the work of GroPal Balance

GroPal Balance works best for organic farmers or farmers who want to decrease their chemical applications. Every time a chemical application is made it damages the balance of the soil. A follow up application of 5 to 10 oz. GPB-A will help to restore soil balance.

While it is true that a farmer who applies NPK may reap some benefits from a GroPal Balance application, the greatest soil building occurs when NPK is not applied.

Many farmers want to see something work on a small scale before they will be ready to use it on a large scale. So why not pick out an area and give GroPal Balance A a try? Once you apply the GroPal Balance, make every effort not to apply anything else in the test area.  While you will likely see some results that growing season, look for even greater results the next growing season.

When extra nitrogen is needed

Some farmers have noted a lack of nitrogen after applying GroPal Balance. If this is the case, a nitrogen application may be needed, especially the first year when using GroPal Balance. 28% or 32% are compatible with GPB. If another grade of nitrogen is applied, it is best to follow it up a few weeks later with a 5 to 10 oz. application of GPB-A to help restore balance to the soil.

Follow up applications after chemical applications

Should you choose to apply a chemical fertilizer or make any other chemical applications after GroPal Balance has been applied and activated, a follow-up application of 5 to 10 ounces of GroPal Balance A should be made to restore balance to the soil.

If a chemical is applied before GroPal Balance can be activated, wait 2 or 3 weeks and apply 5 to 10 ounces of GroPal Balance A to help undo the effect of the chemical application.

GroPal Balance is not compatible with most spray solutions

Nitrogen: Do not apply GPB with any Nitrogen, except for 28% or 32%. Put the GroPal Balance in first, then add any water, and finally add the nitrogen.

Although in most instances other organic inputs should not be needed, for humic acids, fish and kelp applications, pour GroPal Balance into the tank, add water, then add these other items.

If you would like to add any other item with GroPal Balance into the tank mix, please contact us first before doing so. Other spray items may negatively affect the bacteria in GroPal Balance, plus they can greatly reduce the ability of GroPal Balance to help the soil.

Please don't do the following

Until GroPal Balance A has been activated with at least 1.1" of water, do NOT apply any chemical to the soil. If a chemical application must be made before GPB can be activated, wait 2 to 3 weeks and follow up with a 10 oz. application of GroPal Balance A.

Crop application data

  • Pasture
GroPal Balance may be applied at spring, summer or fall. Of course, the earlier in the growing season that it is applied, the more time it has to improve that year's grass.
Fall applications will help to prepare the soil for a wonderful growing season the following year.

  • Winter wheat
For best results, apply GroPal Balance in the fall. Spring applications will be less effective.

  • Spring wheat
For best results, apply GroPal Balance before 3 leaf.

  • Corn
For best results, apply GroPal Balance before 5 leaf. When using GroPal balance, if you choose to apply nitrogen, we recommend 28% or 32%, as these are more compatible with GPB. Once GPB has had a few months to work, it will flocculate the soil. Then our nitrogen fixing bacteria will convert nitrogen in the air into urea, and other microbes will make this available to the plant. Once this takes place, there should be no shortage of nitrogen. To read an article that explains this, click here.

For those who choose to apply nitrogen, for best results you should only use 28% or 32%. To apply your nitrogen with GroPal balance, Put GroPal Balance in the tank first, add whatever amount of water you are planning for the tank mix, then add the nitrogen. Since the nitrogen will be highly available, you may be able to reduce your nitrogen rate by 50%.

  • Alfalfa and grass hay
For best results, apply GroPal Balance before or at green-up. For best results, apply 20 to 40 oz./acre. For increased yields, another 10 to 20 ounces may be applied immediately after each cutting. Another option is to wait a week to 10 days after each cutting and apply one to two quarts of GroPal Balance C Foliar Fertilizer.

Instructions for applying to very dry ground

When the ground is super dry, it is best to try to apply GroPal Balance A just before a rain. Use at least a 20 gal./acre tank mix (more is better) to supply enough water to carry GroPal Balance A into the ground. That way, even if you don't get the expected rain, GroPal Balance will not be harmed as you wait for some rain to activate it.

GroPal Balance A applications for areas smaller than an acre

One teaspoon of GroPal Balance is perfect for 100 square feet. An ounce treats 600 square feet, and an 8 oz. bottle treats 4,800 square feet. A watering can or garden hose sprayer works well for this application.

Foliar applications with GroPal Balance C
When using a pump up sprayer for foliar applications, add 1 tsp. of GroPal Balance C per quart of water. When this type of application is made, don’t apply too heavily as it is easy to over apply, which may lead to leaf burning.
Applications may also be made with a watering can or a hose end sprayer.

  1. One ounce is perfect for 1,800 sq. ft.

  2. An eight ounce bottle is enough 14,400 sq. ft., or a 10th of an acre.
